
St Austell Conference Centre to host new energy event
Their keynote speaker is Steve Jermy an offshore renewable energy professional with wide ranging operational leadership experience. Steve is Chairman of the Marine Offshore Renewables Group and a Non-Executive Director at the Cornwall & IOS Local Enterprise Partnership.
Steve will set the scene, discussing what the declaration of a climate emergency means in practice and what action Cornwall Council and the LEP are taking to address the emergency.
The Trade Show will open at 10am and be open to visitors until 2pm. It will showcase activity from the Cornwall New Energy project as well as innovations from the building, construction and renewables sectors.
Optional presentations will focus on action businesses can take to reduce energy use and emissions. This will include updates on electric vehicles, electric vehicle charge point infrastructure and solar PV for self-consumption.
There will also be a seminar on community-led action to decarbonise housing and energy.
- Discuss the latest developments in housing policy, grants for community developers, and new low-cost system-build housing.
- Hear from communities and developers working on community-led low carbon housing
- Look at developing community energy projects in a subsidy-free environment
- Look at ambitious community-scale initiatives from elsewhere, and hear from a team developing a similar project in Cornwall
A free buffet lunch will be served from 1pm.
The event is open and free to attend for any small or medium sized enterprise or community led organisation based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and to others by invitation only.
