St Austell Conference Centre: Now Solar-Powered
Sustainability and looking after the environment is high on our list of priorities. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that St Austell Conference Centre now generates a significant amount of it’s power needs through our own solar power array.
Installed by our parent company St Austell Printing Company, it’s one of the largest roof-based solar panel arrays in Cornwall which generates power for the printing factory, business park and our Conference Centre.
A total of 441 panels across two buildings at Carclaze will generate an impressive 130,000kWh per year – the equivalent of 40 domestic solar PV systems. It’s hoped that the 150kWp system will present a carbon-saving of at least 45 tonnes per year.
This is the latest in a long list of sustainability achievements for St Austell Conference Centre. We have an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating – the world’s leading sustainability assessment for buildings. By harvesting water and housing a grass topped roof we’re fusing efficiency, ecology and excellence to bring you a conference facility that stands out.
